Situated where the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers meet to form the Alabama River, this area offers a diverse habitat which attracts a variety of birds and wildlife. We’ll follow a dirt loop trail which meanders past an open field, along the river and through a wooded section. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles. We’ll be traveling at a leisurely pace and expect to spend about 2-2 ½ hours at this location.

Bowers Park and the wooded areas near the UA Arboretum attract a good variety of birds. These areas are "migrant traps," where birds passing through find these wooded habitats at the city's edge.

Alabama Audubon will be hosting their fall migratory banding station Monday October 13-Saturday October 18 at the Dauphin Island Audubon Bird Sanctuary.

We are excited to bring back Okploverfest, a fun fall celebration of Alabama's plover species!

Tucked along the water’s edge the Fairhope Pier and Beach Park offer not only iconic views of Mobile Bay, but its birds too!

Join us to look for fall migrants along the greenway beside the Cahaba River in Trussville. We can expect to see species such as wrens, kinglets, woodpeckers, and chickadees. We will be watching along the water for Great Blue and Green herons and possible kingfishers. Scanning the skies we’ll look for hawks, vultures, and maybe even a passing Bald Eagle.

This trip will cover the marsh boardwalk area of Meaher State Park, boasting some incredible views of the gateway to the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and the birds that rely on it!
