EVENT COST: $100.00
Leave the driving and the navigating to us — while we roll in comfort and style down to one of Alabama’s best birding hotspots! Birding by Bus is one of Alabama Audubon's exclusive day trips and is perfect for beginners and seasoned birders alike. We will visit Perry Lakes Park and Lakeland Farms, stop at the Orrville Farmer's Market for lunch, and then stop at the Old Cahawba Archaeological Park and Prairie for some historic sightseeing and view a managed prairie with rare plants and regional breeding birds!
Early May is peak migration season, and we’ll be right on time to catch the final wave of migratory birds heading north! Expect a spectacular show of warblers, vireos, and other vibrant songbirds — plus, who knows, maybe we’ll spot a rare species making a pit stop on its way to its breeding grounds up north!
The Black Belt is home to incredible year-round residents and breeders. Keep your eyes (and binoculars) ready for:
Painted Buntings
Indigo Buntings
Dickcissels
Scissor-tailed Flycatchers
Mississippi Kites
Bald Eagles
Northern Parulas
Pileated Woodpeckers
Our expert birding guides will be scouting ahead to find the best spots, and we’ll make spontaneous stops for any exciting sightings along the way — because the best birds are never on a schedule!
Lunch is included, with vegetarian options available, so all you need to bring is your sense of adventure!
