Join Alabama Audubon in celebrating Birdability Week this year from October 20 - 26, 2025! This week-long event is dedicated to making birding accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability. Our Coastal Team will lead a Big Sit during the morning at the waterfront of Bayfront Park in Daphne! We will be staying stationary the entire duration of this event enjoying whatever birds make an appearance. The park area near the pier is a great place for an event like this and can hold species such as eastern bluebird, swallows, woodpeckers, eastern wood-pewee, and vireo. Common yellowthroat, herons, egrets, terns, and shorebirds can also be found on the adjacent marsh edge and mudflats of Mobile Bay.
Cost: This event is free but registration is required. This trip is limited to 20 people.
Trip Leaders: Your trip leader will be Cortney Weatherby (cortney@alaudubon.org/402-297-1775 [day of trip use only]). Please reach out to Cortney if you require any special accommodations, have questions, or cannot attend, so that we can better assist you on the day of the event.
Location Details: Restrooms are available near the parking lot. There is no parking fee at this location and ample parking is available. You must bring your own seating for this event. Please remember to wear seasonally appropriate attire and bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray as needed.
Meeting Time and Place: We will be meeting at 8:00 am in the parking lot. We will be enjoying a Big Sit in the park area near the waters edge. Address: 6200 Bayfront Park Dr, Daphne, AL, 36526.
Accessibility : There is a short walk (approx 200 yards) via paved sidewalk from the parking lot to the area we will be staying at. The grassy area at the park is well maintained and mostly flat but may have some uneven ground, sticks, or holes, that may not be suitable for all people.
Cancellation: This event will only be canceled by Alabama Audubon in the event of unforeseen circumstances or threatening weather/hazardous conditions. Refunds (if applicable) will only be issued at the discretion of Alabama Audubon. *If you need to cancel at last minute prior to the trip, please email or text your trip leaders to let them know!*
