Description: Join Alabama Audubon's Program Coordinator, Andrew Lydeard, and Jefferson County Greenways, and BHM LGBTQ+ Hikers for a special early access field trip at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson, Alabama to celebrate Pride Month!

Let's Go Birding Together is a National Audubon Initiative that invites birders of all backgrounds to join for a relaxing birdwatching trip. For this adventure, the gates of the preserve will be opened early, and participants will be able to access the property for an exclusive, early field trip in this pristine area. We welcome all levels of birders to join, from the experts to those that may just be "Bird-curious" - this one is for everyone! Binoculars will be available for those who need to borrow some.

Note: Although this program is free, registration is required.

The capacity is 25 before a waitlist starts, so be sure to sign up quickly!

Summer and Scarlet Tanagers
Hooded Warblers
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
Red-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireos
Louisiana Waterthrushes
Red-shouldered Hawks
Downy, Hairy, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers

LOCATION DETAILS: We will meet at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve at 7:00AM in the first parking lot (on your left when you come through the gates). From here, we will travel as a group along the road, searching for breeding birds along the way!

Accessibility : We will travel about a mile as a group on mostly paved surfaces. However, there are gravel walking paths and shoulders that we may also traverse. The terrain here is moderately sloped, and some surfaces may be uneven or have debris such as rocks, roots, or sticks that may not be suitable for all people. There are some benches and restrooms available at this location. Please reach out to your trip leader prior to the event if you require special accommodations.
