Join us to look for fall migrants along the greenway beside the Cahaba River in Trussville. We can expect to see species such as wrens, kinglets, woodpeckers, and chickadees. We will be watching along the water for Great Blue and Green herons and possible kingfishers. Scanning the skies we’ll look for hawks, vultures, and maybe even a passing Bald Eagle.
This is an easy walk that will meander near the Cahaba River near the Trussville Senior Center. We can expect a variety of Fall/Winter birds. Woodpeckers are plentiful, hawks are often sighted and many Fall/Winter birds are regulars. This walk will meander through an open area that leads to wooded paths.
Meeting Place and Time: We will meet in the parking lot for the Senior Center (504 Cherokee Drive, Trussville 35173) and begin walking at 8AM sharp. Restrooms are available at the library (opens at 9).
This event is free but registration is required.
Accessibility: The greenway is paved and wheelchair accessible with benches every 1/4 mile or so. Those with mobility challenges should find this a doable walk as the route is a paved sidewalk with a minor incline.
Trip Leader: The field trip leader will be Meegan Dale (205) 215-9398 // Grace Sims (205) 492-7027 Please contact them only on the day of the event if you need assistance.
