Speaker Series / Julia Lindley / Online (Free!)

Join Alabama Audubon for our Speaker Series this fall, featuring special guest Julia Lindley! Julia will discuss how anyone can get involved in conservation without a science background, specifically how she made the switch from teaching English to a career in conservation. In addition to some helpful tips and guidance, she will also focus on important tools such as finding and honing your passions, networking, volunteering, and seeking other opportunities that can help you contribute to the ecosystems near you.

Julia is a conservation science communicator from Florida with a background as a former middle school English teacher. After four years of classroom teaching, she decided her passion was truly educating in an informal space, sharing her lifelong passion for Florida's wildlife and ecosystems with others. She has since been an educator at Florida Oceanographic Society, an animal care and education intern at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, and a volunteer for Florida Scrub Jay monitoring on both public and private lands. Additionally, she has garnered a social media following on both Instagram (@_nerd.by.nature) and TikTok (@julialindley), where she uses her platform to educate and advocate for Wild Florida. She has been birdwatching for about four years, but is a lifelong nature nerd.
