There are SEVEN species of plovers that rely on habit found on the Alabama coast and these small charismatic shorebirds are indicators of our coastline's health. From nesting sites during the summer to migration stopovers and wintering grounds-our beaches provide critical year round habitat for plovers and more.
Whether you’re an experienced birder or simply curious about the birds sharing our beaches, Okploverfest is a chance to connect with fellow bird enthusiasts, celebrate our coastal wildlife, and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the places these birds depend on.
