Join us to enjoy migration and the roosting of our favorite urban birds, the Chimney Swift! In many cities in the eastern US, empty chimneys are reliable locations for breeding Chimney Swifts. Each fall, when the swifts finish breeding and begin to migrate to South America, many of these chimneys are shared by incredible numbers of swifts.
As dusk falls, we will talk about the swifts while we enjoy the spectacle of a "Swiftnado" as thousands of birds enter the chimney to rest!
Bring snacks, chairs and binoculars!
Meeting Place: We will meet in the back parking lot of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Highland Park for the best viewing of the swifts entering the chimney at Terrace Court South above Dave's Pub. The parking lot is located behind the church.
