The Joy of Birding: Finding Access and Community in Nature

Join Alabama Audubon and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Libraries for a special guest speaker, Tamerra Jones, who is a hobby birder, photographer, and birding advocate based in Orlando, Florida. This event will be offered online and in person!

With academic roots in chemistry and biology, she has spent more than a decade working across various roles in the environmental sector, driven by a lifelong passion for conservation and environmental stewardship. Today, Tamerra serves as a marketing professional supporting the water quality industry, combining her science background with a commitment to advancing environmental awareness and sustainable solutions.

She discovered birding in 2023 as a way to reconnect with nature following the pandemic and quickly became captivated by the hobby. What began as a personal journey soon evolved into a platform for education and advocacy. Through photography and digital content creation, Tamerra shares the excitement of birding while encouraging others to explore the outdoors and discover that birding is accessible, welcoming, and rewarding for everyone.

This event will be hosted at Sterne Library at UAB, in room 174. Room 174 is located towards the back of the first floor of the library.
