2026 Winter Showcase Series: Wings over the Gulf: A Look into Coastal Alabama's Unique Birdlife

  • 20115 State Park Road Gulf Shores, AL, 36542 United States (map)

Hosted by Learning Campus at Gulf State Park, Cortney Weather, Alabama Audubon’s Coastal Outreach Manager, will present Wings over the Gulf: A Look into Coastal Alabama’s Unique Birdlife.

As part of the 2026 Winter Showcase Series presented by Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism, please join us for this presentation from Cortney Weatherby with Alabama Audubon.

Discover the rich and diverse birdlife found along Alabama's coast! Join Coastal Outreach Manager Cortney Weatherby as she shares an overview of the birds that can be found throughout the year in Baldwin and Mobile counties—a paradise for birds and birdwatchers alike!

The second half of the presentation will focus on the state's beach-nesting birds. These thirteen species, 6 of which are species of high conservation concern, depend on Alabama's beaches and coastline to nest and raise their young each summer.

Read the event details here.

We will cover their unique lifestyle, threats they face, and how Alabama Audubon's Coastal Bird Stewardship Program is working to protect these vulnerable species. This event is free and open to the public.
