Join us for the 3rd Annual Bird of the Year Fundraiser!
Get ready to spread your wings and celebrate! At this event, we will reveal our 2026 Bird of the Year, one that will will celebrate and learn about throughout 2026!
ABOUT BIRD OF THE YEAR
Bird of the Year is a new program through which ALABAMA AUDUBON chooses a native Alabama bird species that is benefiting directly from Alabama Audubon’s conservation programs. The 2026 bird is particularly cherished by Alabama’s growing community of people who come together to celebrate birds or advocate for their protection, and is a standout species. Throughout the year, the bird will be prominently featured in outreach programs, and everyone will have the opportunity to learn much more about the species than can be found in a field guide.
We will also be awarding our 2nd annual Avian Ally award to an organization or person that went above and beyond to help protect Alabama’s birds over the last year.
Who will our feathered friend be in 2026? The original artwork showcasing our Bird of the Year will be available for auction, plus there will be a chance to snag some limited t-shirts with the featured bird.
Our Artist for 2026 is Val Webb. Val has spent 25 years carving and painting birds, insects, and botanicals into beautiful bas-relief clay murals for homes and businesses across the South. Today, she divides her time between drawing birds and teaching others to do the same.
Enjoy an afternoon of music, delicious food, birdy connections, and support our conservation efforts! We look forward to seeing you there!
