Join us this Labor Day Monday as we tour the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in search of resident birds and southbound fall migrants!

Russ Bailey was a longtime member of Birmingham Audubon Society (now Alabama Audubon) and today's walk is held in his memory in recognition of his traditional Labor Day Monday walk. We'll spend a couple hours walking the paths of the Kaul Wildflower Garden, the Fern Glade, and Alabama Woodlands. Expect to find our usual resident songbirds and any migrant warblers, vireos, tanagers, and thrushes that might be present. Most of the paths are paved but there are some trails on natural, uneven terrain.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is free and open to the public.

Meeting Location: Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Main Gate.

Target Bird Species: Birds we expect to see are resident songbirds like the Northern Cardinal, Northern Mockingbird, American Robin, and perhaps an American Goldfinch. We might also see various fall migrants, like Summer or Scarlet Tanagers, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, and various warblers and vireos.

Accessibility: This event will cover up to .25 miles on pavement, gravel, and muddy surfaces with slight uphill and downhill elevations. We will be covering areas that are not pavement, with steps and rocks.

Registration is free but required.
