Tennessee Warbler by Andrew Lydeard
Join Program Coordinator Andrew Lydeard to help dispel the "confusing" notion surrounding fall warbler identification through a comprehensive course designed to conquer the goal of identifying warblers during their fall migration.
As most of us know, warblers in any plumage can be a task to view and identify due to their quick and elusive nature, usually well above our heads. When fall comes back around, many of these birds have molted into non-breeding plumage that can make identification more complex than in breeding season, especially since many species appear very similar.
However, the label of "confusing" often leads birders to believe the IDs are too difficult or impossible to obtain, which often means some birders won't even look at, much less attempt to identify, these beautiful birds returning through the southeast to their nonbreeding grounds in the tropics.
This course will cover life history, habitat preferences, behaviors, and of course, how to identify field marks that separate species in the field that will help you gain the skills to distinguish between similar species with confidence, using practical tips and visual aids that make even the most subtle differences clear. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned birder, this course will elevate your warblering to new heights.
This event will be online only: Participants will receive a Zoom link prior to the course to the email used for registration. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folders for the link.
