AN OUTING IN MUSCLE SHOALS
TVA RECREATIONAL TRAILS

We will spend the day exploring several trails of the Tennessee Valley Authority Recreational Trails system. These trails wander through several different habitats including woods, open fields, and along the shore of Lake Pickwick below Wilson Dam.
We can anticipate seeing birds such as Red-bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Prothonatory Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher, Summer Tanager, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Cormorant, Osprey, various Gulls and more.

NEED-TO-KNOW
REMEMBER As always, remember to bring plenty of water and wear seasonally appropriate attire. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking/walking shoes, suitable for walking on established trails over sometimes uneven terrain. Bring rain gear if forecast indicates possible rain.
DETAILS Bring a picnic lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Bathrooms are located at the parking areas. We will meet in the parking area of the address and/or GPS coordinates listed below.
REQUIRED Participants must complete the mandatory online waiver when registering. Please do not request registration for others when submitting your request.
ACCESSIBILITY We will be walking paved trails and along the parking area near Wilson Dam. No formal benches to sit on in most areas.
CANCELLATION In the event of inclement weather, or if you need to cancel at the last minute, please text your trip leaders, as the main office will be closed.

DIRECTIONS
From Birmingham take I-65 N to exit 310
Turn left onto SR 157
After approx. 58 mi continue on SR 157 as it turns north (right turn)
After 5.5 mi exit (turn) right following SR 157 (NOT SR 133)
At “T” turn left onto N. Wilson Dam Rd.
After approx. 1.4 mi look for Thunder Road on left turning into the parking area of TVA Recreational Trails.
The group will gather initially in the parking area.
