Guided Spring Bird Hike at Oak Mountain State Park
FREE WITH REGISTRATION / SPACE IS LIMITED
REGISTRATION CLOSES MAY 12 AT 12AM
Discover the wonders of springtime in Alabama with a guided hike at Oak Mountain State Park this May! Participants will explore a trail that crosses through the southern forests in spring, seeking migrant and breeding bird species that might be found in the park. We will be joined by one of the park’s naturalists, who will also help interpret any interesting plants or wildlife along the way, so that nature enthusiasts and birding aficionados can explore the diverse avian population thriving in the park's scenic landscapes. We will walk around the beautiful Lunker Lake on the Lunker Lake Trail and expect to see some beautiful signs of spring in the south!
During our walk, participants may have the opportunity to spot a variety of bird species that call Oak Mountain home. The park's mix of woodlands, meadows, and water bodies attracts a rich assortment of avian life, offering glimpses of both resident and migratory birds. Although songbird migration is winding down, you never know what may show up in Alabama in May! Tennessee and Yellow Warblers may still be lingering, and many of the breeding birds of the area will have begun nesting, including Yellow-throated Vireos, Northern Parulas, and Yellow-billed Cuckoos. Sign up today for another great spring bird hike with Alabama Audubon and Alabama State Parks!

EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION
Through more than seventy-five years of conservation work in one of our nation’s most ecologically rich states, Alabama Audubon has seen firsthand how diversity strengthens natural communities. This same principle applies to human communities, which is why our organization is committed to providing equitable and inclusive opportunities for all Alabamians to learn about and enjoy wild birds, their habitats, and the natural world. One of the best ways to support that belief is by valuing and actively seeking to strengthen diversity among our staff, our board, and our membership. To that end, Alabama Audubon welcomes everyone to participate in our work, and strives to make our programs, classes, and events welcome, inclusive, and accessible to all.
