A FIELD TRIP TO SPRINGVILLE
REGISTRATION CLOSES THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 @ 11PM
FREE WITH REGISTRATION / SPACE IS LIMITED
Big Canoe Creek Nature Preserve covers 422 acres of Alabama Forever Wild property on County Road 9 in Springville near Homestead Hollow. The property contains pristine meandering creeks, lush forest, abundant wildlife, stunning flora, and trails for hiking and birding.

About 80% of the main stem of Big Canoe Creek is flows through the watersheds 50-mile length, as do four of its major tributaries. Big Canoe Creek and its tributaries retain much of their forest cover, helping maintain critical habitat for rare aquatic species.
This trip will target over 40 species of residents and fall migrants, such as warblers, vireos, tanagers, towhees, cardinals, grosbeaks, flycatchers, nuthatches, wrens, sparrows, finches, woodpeckers, turkey, blackbirds, kingfishers, thrushes, phoebes, wood-pewees, hawks, owls, and more.

EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION
Through more than seventy-five years of conservation work in one of our nation’s most ecologically rich states, Alabama Audubon has seen firsthand how diversity strengthens natural communities. This same principle applies to human communities, which is why our organization is committed to providing equitable and inclusive opportunities for all Alabamians to learn about and enjoy wild birds, their habitats, and the natural world. One of the best ways to support that belief is by valuing and actively seeking to strengthen diversity among our staff, our board, and our membership. To that end, Alabama Audubon welcomes everyone to participate in our work, and strives to make our programs, classes, and events welcome, inclusive, and accessible to all.
