Ring-billed Gulls // Greg Harber
The Guntersville waterfront is an excellent place to see a variety of gulls, ducks, and other waterfowl in winter. It is also one of the premier locations in the state to see nesting Bald Eagles. Occasionally, you can spot rare species of gulls or loons, too. We'll visit several sites to view these and other winter birds.
Meeting Place & Location: Plan to meet us at 8:00 a.m. at the McDonald's in Guntersville (1745 Gunter Avenue, Guntersville, AL 35976). We will depart from there to our first stop at the City Harbor on US Hwy 431, on the right just before the bridge over the Tennessee River. We will have lunch at a local restaurant. Be sure to dress for the weather - Guntersville in winter can be very cold along the waterfront! This is a field trip please plan to bring water, snacks, and a full tank of gas.
