NATURE@NOON
ON THE COAST / A BIRDWALK IN MEAHER STATE PARK
FREE WITH REGISTRATION / SPACE IS LIMITED
REGISTRATION CLOSES THURSDAY, MAY 14 AT 12AM
Join us for our monthly Coastal Nature @ Noon event with our friends at Meaher State Park on March 15! Every month, we offer an opportunity to participate in an hour-long, Friday lunchtime walk that explores different locations of the state and its nature each month.
The birdwalk will be led by our Coastal Outreach Manager Cortney Weatherby with a special guest appearance by Meaher State Park’s Naturalist Chloe Drexel. The neighboring habitat of pine woodland and Mobile Delta marsh and shrub habitat provides cover for a variety of species, you never know what might be hanging about this hotspot!
We will start in the pine stand that provides shade to much of the park and look for woodpeckers, kinglets, and any potential early migrants. The shrub lined start of the boardwalk trail holds sparrows, wrens, and towhee. Once we emerge onto the boardwalk we will look for the trio of Limpkins that have been frequenting the park as well as coots, ibis, gallinule, and multiple species of wading birds.

EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION
Through more than seventy-five years of conservation work in one of our nation’s most ecologically rich states, Alabama Audubon has seen firsthand how diversity strengthens natural communities. This same principle applies to human communities, which is why our organization is committed to providing equitable and inclusive opportunities for all Alabamians to learn about and enjoy wild birds, their habitats, and the natural world. One of the best ways to support that belief is by valuing and actively seeking to strengthen diversity among our staff, our board, and our membership. To that end, Alabama Audubon welcomes everyone to participate in our work, and strives to make our programs, classes, and events welcome, inclusive, and accessible to all.
