Description: Each February, for four days, the world comes together for the love of birds, spending time in favorite places, watching and counting as many birds as can be found while reporting their observations—citizen science at its best. You can contribute to the science and conservation of the birds near you and across the globe with thousands of other birdwatchers. You can help, just by birding!
Join Alabama Audubon as we participate in this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count on February 15th at the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve—it offers a variety of habitats and no less than 30 species can typically be seen on our walk, including hawks, woodpeckers, winter warblers, wrens, blackbirds, finches, and many other songbirds.
If you are a user of eBird or Merlin, your submissions over the 4-day event will automatically be added to the GBBC totals, helping scientists to better understand global bird populations and inform responsible conservation decisions. Observation reports and trends allow scientists to better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations.
TRIP LEADER: Your leader for this trip will be Marj Young who can be reached at (205) 515-8394 or marjyoung@att.net. Please call your leader only on the day of the event.
