Description: Join us for a lunchtime nature excursion at one of Baldwin County's birdiest parks! This is a free event and no registration is needed!
Bayfront Park in Daphne is not only a beautiful park to enjoy spectacular views of upper Mobile Bay, it's also a critical year-round habitat for birds. This park encompasses many diverse habitats that allow for a high species diversity.
We will start on the pier by the parking lot to scan for winter water birds like scaups, mergansers, grebes, and various waterfowl. After that, we will walk the boardwalk and trails along the pine forest edge searching for our winter songbird friends including cedar waxwings, ruby-crowned kinglets, goldfinch, white-throated sparrow, and fan favorite yellow-bellied sapsucker. Our walk will end at the small beach seeking out waders and shorebirds.
All birding levels are invited! Binoculars will be available to borrow.
LOCATION DETAILS: There is ample parking on location. Park restrooms are available.
TRAVEL INFORMATION: We will gather at the circle at the end of the parking lot and head to the pier from there.
Accessibility: This event will use boardwalk and paved trails the entire time. We will have the opportunity to venture onto the beach towards the end of the walk but participants can also stay on the boardwalk and continue to enjoy the great birding from there.
