Several Powers: A Darwin Day Exhibition at UAB

The UAB College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History, Department of Biology, and Department of English, along with the UAB MakerSpace, present a one-night only exhibition, “Several Powers,” Friday, February 10, to celebrate International Darwin Day. The exhibition will be held in the Department of Art and Art History’s Project Space, with a free, public reception scheduled from 4–6 p.m.

Students from Assistant Professor Doug Baulos’s Bloom Studio Scientific Illustration, Professor Gary Chapman’s Observational Painting with Conceptual Purpose Painting, and Dr. Kerry Madden-Lunsford’s Fiction Writing Workshop courses have conducted research on a wide range of Alabama-focused biodiversity topics and studied regional bird species including the Prothonotary Warbler, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Chimney Swift, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, and the Black-crowned Night-Heron.

The exhibition features works made in collaboration with Birmingham Audubon, Alabama’s oldest non-profit promoting conservation & a greater knowledge of birds, their habitat, and the natural world.
