ONLINE Course: Audubon at Home: Sharing Your Sightings with eBird
April 16 , 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Pre-registration is required by 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15th, and space is limited.
Registration is now closed.
In response to social distancing and shelter-in-place rules for Alabama during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering free online courses as a public service to help folks continue to learn about the birds they love! While these will initially be offered for free, please support our work if you are able and make a tax-deductible donation at alaudubon.org/give. Please make sure to comply with all state and local social-distancing regulations. See our full COVID-19 statement here.
If you want to find out about birds, and if you want to share your bird sightings for science and conservation, check out eBird. More than 100 million bird sightings are contributed to Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s eBird database each year by eBirders around the world. eBird helps birders learn where to see birds around the year while providing permanent storage for their bird sightings from anywhere in the world.
This is part one of a two-part series—the two hour-long courses will introduce you to the two sides of eBird:
- Course 1: Sharing Your Sightings with eBird—how to contribute your sightings to eBird either online or with the eBird app; and
- Course 2: Locating Birds with eBird—how to use eBird to find out where the birds are at any time of year.*
Where and when do we meet? This online course meets on Thursday, April 16th, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. It will be an hour-long online class with time at the end for questions.
