MLK Day Habitat Restoration at Limestone Park
January 16, 2017, 1:00 pm–4:00 pm
Join us as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy with an afternoon of service at Limestone Park, one of our most biodiverse Birmingham Audubon Urban Bird Habitat Initiative sites. Plan to bring plenty of water, snacks, and work clothes, as we’ll be spending the afternoon seeding Limestone’s important prairie habitats and picking up trash. (There are no restrooms at Limestone Park, but there are several gas stations with public restrooms a few miles to the north or south.)
Meet up will be at Limestone’s central parking area (GPS: 33.184539, -86.766201) at 1 p.m. To get there from Birmingham, take I-65 south to EXIT 238 (look for the Walmart and Lowe’s on your left); take a LEFT on US-31 southbound and travel for approximately 3.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your RIGHT, marked by a small blue park sign and an Alabama Birding Trails marker.
Make a difference during your day off—help keep Alabama healthy and beautiful for people and birds!
