Gosse Nature Walk #23: Vulcan Trail
September 20, 2019, 12:00 pm–1:00 pm

UPDATE: The location has been changed to the Vulcan Trail due to construction and another event happening that day at Railroad Park.
The twenty-third installation of our Gosse Nature Walk Series takes us to Vulcan Park. The Kiwanis Vulcan trail is a 2-mile jogging and biking trail extending to Green Springs Highway and serving as the future hub for Birmingham’s planned 750-mile Red Rock Trail System. Join us as we get to know our urban birds with special guest and master birder Greg Harber. All ages and abilities welcome!
The details: Meetup will be at noon in the parking lot off of Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. S. beneath Vulcan (located approximately between 1867 and 1871 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. S.) There is limited parking here, however, so those who do not have a handicap may want to park in Vulcan’s parking lot located at 1701 Valley View Drive and use the staircase to walk through the park down to the trail to meet us.
Insect repellent, rain gear, sunblock, and seasonally appropriate attire may all come in handy, depending on the weather. If you have your own binoculars, you’ll definitely want to bring them along—we’ll have only a limited number of loaners on hand.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
(Questions about accessibility? Email us for more information about how we can meet your needs.)
Trip leader: Birmingham Audubon Outreach & Communications Director Sarah Randolph co-leads this trip with Greg Harber. Her cell is 205-422-4124 (day of event only, please). Feel free to email us if you have questions.
