UPDATE: Our original Exploring Natural Alabama program, “Wetlands: An Introduction,” with guest speaker Larry Davenport scheduled for Sunday, April 14th, has been canceled. Instead, Greg Harber will provide a program called “Galapagos: A Virtual Tour of a Natural Wonder.”

The Exploring Natural Alabama series (formerly Audubon Teaches Nature) returns to Oak Mountain for its twenty-eighth year with seven great programs covering a broad range of Alabama natural history. Co-sponsored by Birmingham Audubon, the Alabama Wildlife Center, and Oak Mountain Interpretive Center, these programs are free, family friendly, and open to the public. Join us!

Galapagos: A Virtual Tour of a Natural Wonder with guest speaker Greg Harber

The Galapagos Islands are known for their tortoises and Darwin’s finches, but visitors find that their abundant marine and bird life are appealing, too.  In this program, Greg will give you a brief overview of the islands and the abundant wildlife found there.

The details: This program will be held at the Oak Mountain Interpretive Center, just across the street from the Alabama Wildlife Center (404 Terrace Drive, Pelham, Alabama 35124). Cider, punch, and cookies are available starting at 1:30—come early for conversation and refreshments! Note that while the program is free, admission to Oak Mountain State Park is $5/adults, $2 for children (4–11) and seniors (62+).
