Join Birmingham Audubon as we visit an area few birders know about—the rich woodlands of the Fall Line Hills ecoregion north of Tuscaloosa.

The details: Meetup is at 7 a.m. at the Fultondale Chick-fil-A (215 Howell Street, Fultondale), located off I-65 (Exit 267) on Walker Chapel Road. From there, we’ll drive northwest on the newly completed I-22, with a brief rest stop near Jasper before heading into Fayette County. As always, remember to bring plenty of water and snacks, a tank full of gas, insect repellent, rain gear, sunblock, and seasonally appropriate (in this case, warm) attire.

(Questions about accessibility? Email us for more information about how we can meet your needs.)

The birds: You’ll find the latest eBird records for Fayette County here.

The food: West Alabama is barbecue country, and we could harldy plan a trip to Fayette without a stop at Sam’s Smokehouse.

Trip leader: Greg Harber leads this trip; his cell is 205-807-8055 (day of field trip only). For more information, email the Outreach Director.
