Exploring Natural Alabama: Birds of Prey, Masters of the Skies

The Exploring Natural Alabama series (formerly Audubon Teaches Nature) returns to Oak Mountain for its twenty-seventh year with seven great programs covering a broad range of Alabama natural history. Co-sponsored by Birmingham Audubon, the Alabama Wildlife Center, and Oak Mountain Interpretive Center, these programs are free, family friendly, and open to the public. Join us!
Birds of Prey, Masters of the Skies with staff from the Alabama Wildlife Center (AWC)
Birds of prey are truly masters of the skies. They have keen eyesight, sharp talons, and are adept hunters. Fortunately for us, Alabama is hold to several species of raptors. During this program (which features live birds from AWC’s Education Ambassadors Program), you will learn their various features, adaptations, and field marks to help you identify them in the field. Bring your children and your cameras to capture the moment!
The details: This event will be held at the Alabama Wildlife Center (404 Terrace Drive, Pelham, Alabama 35124). Note that the program will be offered twice, once at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. Note that while the program is free, admission to Oak Mountain State Park is $5/adults, $2 for children (4–11) and seniors (62+).
