About the Class
The Wehle Land Conservation Center, in partnership with Alabama Audubon, is offering a 6‐day Beginner Bird Banding class September 19-24. The class is tailored to provide interested individuals (amateur birders, professional biologists, students) the skills necessary to participate in existing bird banding projects (MAPS banding stations, migration banding stations, targeted research). It is open to everyone, regardless of past experience. The small class size is designed to allow for individual attention from an instructor with nearly 30 years of experience. You can find more details about the class, including how to reserve a spot, here.
About the Scholarship
Alabama Audubon is offering full scholarships to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) students and professionals to attend the class. This scholarship, made possible by funding from the National Audubon Society, aims to help increase the number of people from traditionally underrepresented groups in the bird banding community.
